Martin House - Hope Services

Martin House consists of move-on accommodation which provides a low level of support. The clients who live there are vulnerable people, so new referral clients have to meet the Martin House Criteria

Description of service and support
Martin House is a complex of 12 single person self-contained flats, in three blocks and consists of four flats per block, two upstairs and two downstairs. The flats have a kitchen, bathroom, lounge and bedroom coming off a small hall. Access is through a communal hall way. There is a large communal garden and a parking area. Hope services furnish the flats, but tenants can furnish with their own. 

The service works in a service user led manner to identify individual needs and find the most appropriate and productive methods of meeting these needs. Once identified Hope refer, signpost and support tenants to work with other agencies and professionals to address any health, legal, financial, education and employments needs alongside Hope support.  The project teaches tenants basic life skills such as cooking, budgeting and debt management, shopping, housekeeping and personal hygiene.  The overall aim of the supported living project is to enable tenants to return to living positively within the community. Each Hodthorpe tenant is allocated a Key worker.

In terms of the moving-on process tenants are encouraged to attend Hope’s Day Service courses.  The Housing Advice service works with tenants once they are ready to obtain appropriate permanent accommodation, referring on to floating support services where required once move on has been achieved.
