Amber House - Metropolitan

Amber House provides refuge accommodation and support for women and children affected by domestic abuse. Support is provided to help Service Users make informed decisions about their future and move on to safe and suitable accommodation.                 

Description of service and support

Amber House can accommodate up to ten families (of varying sizes) at any one time. The accommodation is shared and split over 4 flats, each with either 2 or 3 bedrooms a communal living room, kitchen, shower room and bathroom. The staff consists of 4 full-time, 2 part-time and 2 bank. Pets are not accepted.

Staff are on site to provide housing-related support (benefits, debt, housing, health. MARAC etc) and have good knowledge of external services that may be able to provide more specialist support. Full Time Children’s support worker and fully equipped resource room available during office hours with referrals to ‘Stronger Families’, schools, community activities and a CAF completed and initiated for every child. Service Users can then be sign posted and referred to external agencies as appropriate.

After living here clients could be resettled in safe and suitable accommodation with the option of floating support for the first few months of their new tenancy.

Women and children affected by domestic abuse. Rooms within shared accommodation available for families with up to 4 children and single women, (will accept male children up to the age of 15) dependant on shared space at time of referral).
We will consider referrals from external agencies, WAIS helpline and self referrals. All referrals are completed over the phone speaking directly to the potential Service User along with any agencies that are currently or have recently worked with them in order to make a balanced assessment.
