The Midworth Street project provides 24 hour supported living accommodation for adults aged 18+ years who are either vulnerable or who have a Mental Health diagnosis and who want to build their independence. This is a short term placement of up to 2 years. Support will be given to move on.
Description of service and support
Midworth Street is a terrace consisting of 3 shared houses providing a total of 13 individual rooms each having access to either a shared bathroom or shower. Each property has access to a shared kitchen including laundry facilities and access to a communal living room between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 pm. The accommodation is fully furnished with communal gardens to the rear of the properties and is maintained to a highest standard. Staff sleep-in facilities and office are both based in the central property. There are 2 members of staff on duty at all times. No pets are allowed.
There is easy access to local community facilities including GPs, dentists, opticians, library, citizen’s advice, colleges, Clumber Park and Kingsmill Hospital. The town centre is 2 minute walk away with a number of supermarkets and a range of social activities close by including bowling, swimming, cinema, pub and bingo.
Generally the next steps for tenants would be to move to general needs accommodation with either the local authority, private landlord or housing association with or with floating support.
Midworth Street aims to provide tenants with the skills, information and opportunities they need to take the steps to independence. Support is given with occupancy sustainment, health and wellbeing, relationships, developing independent living skills, managing finances, access to education and gaining employment.
